SEND

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

At Dane Ghyll we are dedicated to meeting the needs of all our pupils so that every child can achieve their best possible outcomes. We provide high quality first wave teaching so that all children have an equal opportunity to learn and develop within the classroom environment. Children may have Special Educational Needs or Disability (SEND) throughout or at any time during their school career. We recognise and support SEND children that may require additional help, both in class and also in small interventions to ensure they can access our full curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities. We strive to provide parents/carers and children with the tools and skills to continue to achieve and thrive in our school and their lives.

If you have any concerns about your child's social, emotional or learning needs or if you need some friendly advice, please contact your child’s class teacher in the first instance who will be able to offer some guidance. Alternatively you can contact me via email:  senco@daneghyll.cumbria.sch.uk and I will be happy to help in any way I can.  Mrs Gawne is our SENCO and Mrs Rice is our Nursery SENCO. We work closely with Mrs Lourie our SEND Governor.

The new SEN Code of Practice 2014 requires all schools to clearly show what they can offer children with SEND and their families and also their policy explaining their approach to SEN. Please use the links below to access our SEND policy, links to Cumbria’s Local Offer and extra information and resources we feel will be useful.
