Welcome to Year 5
Year 5 Yearly Overview
Our teacher is Mr Wilson and our teaching assistant is Mrs Broadfoot.
Year 5 enjoyed their first cricketing session of the year with Alistair. We brushed up on our basic throwing and catching skills with some fun games and then we finished off the lesson with a game of diamond cricket. With places in the school cricket team up for grabs, it was good to see a decent level of talent on show! #howzzat!
Year 5 had a sssssssssuper visit today from former pupil Thomas Tranter. In science we have been learning about life cycles and metamorphosis of different animal groups. Thomas kindly brought in his pet snake - Solero. Solero is a reticulated python and one of nine that he owns. It was fascinating to link our current learning to the life cycle of a reptile. It brought learning to life.....literally!
Year 5 Gardening
With spring coming round ever so quickly, Year 5 decided to take advantage of this important season by doing some gardening. With help from Mrs P, we weeded the path and planted the seeds of broad beans, aubergines, peppers, cucumbers, parsnips, sprouts, marigolds, nasturtiums, cauliflower and leeks. We look forward to seeing them grow!
Year 5 enjoyed their Yokids Yoga session.
Year 5 enjoyed making a start on their fairground rides in DT.
In guided reading we performed an extract from the Wizard of Oz. Our directors helped us to follow the stage directions and gave us cues if we forgot our lines!
Year 5 brought their teddies into school to help them with their forces investigation in Science.
Year 5 used the place value equipment to represent numbers up to 10,000.
Year 5 and 6 took part in the Body Coach Schools Fitness Week.
